Scott Healy & Associates congratulates Dr. Belinda Plowell on being named the new Director of Clinical Training for Rivier University’s Counseling and Psy.D. program.

Prior to this appointment, Dr. Belinda Plowell has been a mental health professional specializing in trauma, women’s mental health and family wellness.  She has worked in diverse clinical and community settings with a focus on making mental health care accessible and culturally-relevant to the community she serves.  She has served as a director at community-based and private agencies and provided clinical consultation and training for mental health professionals and clinical program oversight.   Dr. Plowell has developed unique and interactive therapeutic group curricula on diverse topics including trauma, grief and loss, and holistic healing; to that end, she obtained her RYT200 yoga certification, to further connect mind-body healing with positive mental health.  Drawing on her clinical expertise and passion for education, in each of her positions, Dr. Plowell has provided education and supervision for master’s and doctorate-level behavioral health interns to support their clinical training and helping students to develop their professional identity as clinicians. 

Dr. Plowell holds her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology/Alliant University and her MSW in Clinical Social Work from Boston College and her BA in psychology from University of Hartford.  She is excited about joining Rivier University and overseeing the training program within the Department of Counseling and Psychology.
