Scott Healy & Associates congratulates Dr. Wei Liu on his appointment in the newly created Health Sciences Research Faculty position at UT Health San Antonio.  Dr. Liu earned a Doctorate in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Maryland and a Masters Degree in Biomedical Engineering from University of Vermont. Dr. Liu was research director of osteopathic rehabilitation and biomechanics at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine, Auburn. His research has focused primarily on biomechanics of human locomotion, and rehabilitation interventions relevant for musculoskeletal and neuromuscular diseases. He is current mentored patient-oriented research career development awardee (K23) funded by NIH, this award is focusing on developing and testing a novel Tai Chi intervention for older individual with chronic pain. The research papers of biomechanical analysis of Tai Chi co-authored by him have been widely cited nationally and internationally. Dr. Liu has served as grant review panel for several federal funding agencies (DOE, DOD) related to musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
