Position Description
George Fox University, in partnership with the national search firm, Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the position of Principal Faculty Member in the Master of Medical Science, Physician Assistant Program. Principal faculty members support the Program Director in development and delivery of education in the Physician Assistant program.
Physician Assistant (PA) Faculty members at George Fox work collaboratively to support the mission of the Program: To develop well-informed, resilient, and compassionate PAs who provide patient-centered and service-oriented care in diverse environments to transform healthcare for the benefit of individuals and their communities.
The PA Program at George Fox University is a six-semester, 112-credit program that awards a Master of Medical Science (MMSc) degree. The full-time program starts a new cohort each January, with classes held in-person at the University’s new state-of-the-art Medical Sciences Building in Newberg, as well as affiliated clinic sites in the second year.
Program Duties include:
- Review and participate in revisions, as necessary, of the program mission statement, goals and competencies of the program.
- Participate in development, planning, and continuous program evaluation (review and analysis).
- Participate in accreditation activities.
- Participate in faculty development and coordination of activities.
- Participate in student recruitment and selection.
- Participate in clinical site visits.
General Education Duties:
- Participate in the PA programs delivery of curriculum (student instruction).
- Participate in the evaluation of student performance.
- Provide remedial instruction when needed.
- Participate in designing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the curriculum.
- As necessary, provide academic counseling and student tutoring.
Other Duties:
- If desired, participate in clinical practice, scholarly activities, or advanced education.
- Additional duties as needed and assigned by the program director.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in health-related field. Physicians (MD/DO) may fill this role
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience preferred.
- PA principal faculty may be required to hold current NCCPA certification as a condition of employment.
