Norwich University, in partnership with the executive search firm Scott Healy & Associates, is pleased to invite applications, inquiries, and nominations for the position of Director of the School of Nursing. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Professional Schools and the Dean of the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies, the Director will provide leadership, strategic planning, vision, development, and implementation of academic programs, supporting continued growth, excellence, and success for the School of Nursing (SON). This is an exciting time for the SON to continue building programs and prepare for the future of nursing and healthcare where technology and new teaching methodologies are changing the landscape of higher education. The new Director will build on the current success of the SON and its faculty to become a recognized local and national leader in nursing education. The new director will be a visionary, inclusive, and transformative leader who can bring diverse groups of faculty, staff, students, alumni, and university and community partners together to advance the SON and its positive impact on the University and the nursing profession.
- Doctorate in nursing (DNP, PhD, or EdD) or closely related area.
- Active and unencumbered, unrestricted Vermont RN License or eligible for licensure in Vermont.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching and scholarship.
- Demonstrated experience working with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience in curriculum development.
- Experience with interdisciplinary partnerships.
- Administrative experience in higher education or healthcare facilities.
- Full time teaching experience at a baccalaureate or graduate nursing program.
- Teaching experience with distance education/online instruction highly preferred.
- Understanding of CCNE accreditation standards.
- FNP, AGACNP, or PMHNP certification with fulltime clinical NP experience.
- Documented leadership experience as a Director, Associate Director, or Assistant Director of a Nursing program.
- Experience leading the CCNE accreditation process.

About the School of Nursing:
The School of Nursing (SON) at Norwich University is committed to building a diverse faculty, staff, and student body as it responds to the changing population and educational needs of Vermonters, our nation, and the world. One of five schools within the College of Professional Schools, it is grounded in innovation, nursing education, and the quality of its faculty. The SON offers the BS in Nursing and Accelerated BS in Nursing programs. The Director manages the full-time faculty, staff, and adjunct faculty as well as the physical resources of the School’s lab and simulation facilities. Nursing is one of the largest undergraduate majors and the Director has an important role maintaining relationships with many regional hospitals, the Vermont Board of Nursing, and CCNE.
Through the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies, the university offers a fully online RN to BS in Nursing and a newly established Master’s in Nursing Nurse Practitioner with Certificate tracks for the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP). The Director will be instrumental in leading the specialty track faculty coordinators and collaborating with the College of Graduate and Continuing Studies, which administers the online programs, positioning the SON for continued growth and success of these new tracks as Nurse Practitioners globally impact the health of populations.
