Position Description

Hartwick College, in partnership with the national search firm Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for two Assistant/Associate Professors of Nursing for a new, online graduate degree program starting in the May of 2022. These tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor positions (2) are full-time faculty positions for our new and innovative Master of Science in Nursing Education and Advanced Study Certificate in Nursing Education programs. Hartwick College seeks two innovative educators who will each be responsible for an average of 20 semester credit hours, and teaching assignments in the areas of pathophysiology/pharmacology, health assessment, and educational theory in addition to the core educator courses.


  • Active engagement in scholarly or creative activities;
  • Committee service, including campus wide and departmental governance, and academic advising are expected for re-appointment, tenure, and promotion;
  • An average of 20 semester credit hours.


  • Ph.D., Ed.D., or DNS, in Nursing or closely-related field and a MS, MA, or MSN in Nursing Education at the time of the appointment;
  • Unencumbered NYS RN license;
  • Recent relevant clinical or educational experience and certification;
  • Academic preparation as a nurse educator and previous online teaching at the graduate level;
  • Expertise in any of the following areas: Medical Surgical Nursing, Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing, and/or Geriatric Nursing;
  • Commitment to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching, and to working closely with students; and
  • All employees are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to the start of their employment.

Those with an MS, MA, or MSN in Nursing Education, who are actively pursuing a doctorate and with extensive teaching experience will be considered. Tenure-track faculty members must complete a doctoral degree by the time tenure is awarded.

Preference will be given to applicants with a doctorate in nursing or a closely-related field, at least three years of full-time college-level classroom and/or distance/on-line teaching experience and additional areas of nursing specialization.
