Patrick Hughes has enjoyed a successful career
in higher education, specifically in the areas of admissions
and enrollment management. Patrick moved up the ranks in the
area of admissions at his alma mater, MacMurray College. He
left the position of Director of Admission at MacMurray to become
the Dean of Admission at Lewis University in suburban Chicago
and most recently held the same position at Millikin University.
Patrick’s areas of expertise include new student recruitment,
the development of an effective communication flow, utilizing
budget dollars most effectively, and staff development.
Patrick’s experiences at small, private
institutions offer expertise in recruiting the traditional,
residential student. While at Lewis University, Patrick’s
team was able to achieve the holy trinity in the admissions
profession: increase enrollment, increase the academic profile,
and lower the tuition discount rate. These are the skills that
Patrick brings to Scott Healy & Associates.
Patrick has been extremely active and visible
throughout his career in a number of professional organizations.
He has served on the executive board of Illinois ACAC for the
last 6 years and has been appointed to serve NACAC. He also
serves as a member of the ACT Illinois State Council. Patrick
has presented on a variety of topics at conferences such as
AACRAO, ACT Enrollment Planner’s Conference, The College
Board Midwest Regional, NACAC, Illinois ACAC, Missouri ACAC,
and other regional conferences.
Patrick’s level of involvement at private
institutions leaves him extremely well qualified to consult
and advise similar institutions in their efforts recruiting
traditional, residential students. Fundamentally solid and experienced
to oversee an admissions operation that needs guidance, direction,
and support, Patrick will be able to serve many institutions
to successful enrollment outcomes.
